Double ‘B’ Exotic Gardens, established in 1981, was the brainchild of the late Boyo Ramsaroop (1938 to 2010). With the focus being horticulture, this venture started from Boyo’s hobby of collecting exotic tropical flowering plants (primarily Heliconias and Gingers) from the lush rainforests of Guyana, and other parts of the world.

New hybrids of these flowers were eventually achieved by growing similar varieties in close proximity and allowing nature to do her work through the birds and insects. As the flower farms grew in fame, renowned scientists from the Smithsonian Institute and the Utrecht University, came to see the beautiful flowers set amidst the pristine tropical rainforest. Double ‘B’ Exotic Gardens has also been the recipient of international awards, including a silver medal at the Aalsmeer Flower Show in Holland.

Brigitte Ramsaroop, Boyo’s wife, was integral in the business as well. She became one of Guyana’s leading florists and thrilled many with her creativity. Today, the business is continued by Boyo’s son, Gerhard, and his wife, Michelle.
